Mechanical facial cleansing
Mechanical facial cleansing is an effective method of skin cleansing used to treat open and closed comedones and milia, as well as for managing mild forms of acne. The procedure mechanically removes sebum plugs and cleanses the pores, which improves skin condition and reduces the risk of new inflammatory lesions developing.
Indications for mechanical cleansing
Mechanical facial cleansing performed by a cosmetologist has received the most favorable reviews from patients with combination and oily skin: it significantly improves the appearance and condition of the skin in cases of:
- various types of blackheads;
- acne;
- milia;
- sebaceous plugs;
- mild forms of acne (without pronounced inflammation);
- comedones.
Cosmetologists recommend this procedure for:
- excessive sebum production;
- hyperkeratosis;
- enlarged pores.
Important: in cases of severe inflammatory acne, mechanical cleansing is not the primary treatment method and requires prior therapy.
What results can be achieved?
Mechanical facial cleansing effectively removes impurities and sebaceous plugs from the skin and improves its overall condition.
As a result of the procedure:
- pores are deeply cleansed
- open and closed comedones are removed
- the number of breakouts is reduced
- skin texture is smoothed out
- skin oiliness is reduced
- complexion is improved
Of course, this procedure has contraindications. It is not recommended for:
- severe forms of acne and pustular diseases;
- in cases of chronic and viral dermatological diseases;
- in the presence of severe systemic diseases.
How is a mechanical facial performed?
The "Proper Cosmetology" Aesthetic Medicine Center invites all women with oily and combination skin to take advantage of the opportunity to quickly, effectively, and completely safely improve their skin's condition with a mechanical facial cleansing performed by a cosmetologist. The procedure includes several mandatory steps:
- Removal of makeup and impurities.
- Application of a special cream (exfoliating cream) that dissolves skin impurities, followed by skin polishing.
- Application of a solution that effectively opens the pores.
- Pore cleansing procedure using special devices or manually.
- Application of an antibacterial mask and Darsonval to prevent irritation.
- Application of a cream suitable for your skin type.

After mechanical cleansing (the difference before and after is visible in the photo), which takes about an hour depending on the degree of impurities, the cosmetologist will recommend that you refrain for a while from using harsh, irritating lotions and other cosmetics, as well as from intensive washing and sunbathing.
The optimal frequency for this procedure is once every 30–60 days.
How to choose a facial cleansing method
The choice of cleansing method depends on your skin condition, the presence of inflammation, and skin sensitivity.
Different types of cleansing are suitable for different situations:
- if you have blackheads, clogged pores, and uneven skin texture, mechanical cleansing is effective
- if the skin is sensitive or requires more gentle cleansing, it is better to choose combined facial cleansing
- For regular care, prevention, and maintaining skin health, ultrasonic facial cleansing is suitable
- For acne and inflammatory lesions, an individualized approach is necessary, and acne facial cleansing is used
Important: the type of cleansing is selected individually based on skin condition and may change during the course of treatment.
